WATCH- "India is really struggling with COVID-19," Akhtar urges Pakistan govt, fans to help its neighbors

Former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar urged the people of his nation and government to help India deal with the ongoing second wave of COVID-19 and the subsequent oxygen shortage. 

The second wave of coronavirus is witnessing a precipitous rise of cases across India and several states have imposed curfews and other restrictions as they try to curb the spread of the deadly virus. 

There are over 25 lakh COVID-19 cases in India at the moment with Maharashtra being the worst-hit Indian state with 67,000 new confirmed cases and 676 more deaths. 

With the precipitous rise in coronavirus cases, India is suffering from the shortage of medical oxygen as all central and state governments are acting on war footing to tide over the resurgence of the pandemic. 

Addressing the COVID-19 situation in India, former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar appealed to the Pakistan government and fans to help India. He further requested everyone to raise funds and deliver oxygen tanks to the neighboring nation.

“It is impossible for any government to tackle the ongoing crisis. I appeal to my government and fans, to help India. India does need a lot of oxygen tanks. I request everyone to donate and raise funds for India and deliver oxygen tanks to them,” Shoaib Akhtar said in a video posted on his YouTube channel. 

Taking to his official Twitter account also, Shoaib Akhtar said that with rising cases of COVID-19 in India, the nation is struggling and global support is needed. He added that everyone must become each other’s support during these tough times. 

“India is really struggling with Covid-19. Global support needed. The health care system is crashing. It's a Pandemic, we are all in it together. Must become each other’s support,” Shoaib Akhtar Tweeted.
