IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) have shared a special message for their regular skipper Shreyas Iyer ahead of their first match of IPL 14.

Delhi Capitals suffered a major blow after their skipper Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the IPL 2021 due to the shoulder injury he suffered during the ODI series against England.

The swashbuckling batsman had to undergo surgery and will remain out of the action for the next 4-5 weeks.

"Surgery was a success," Shreyas Iyer promises to come back in no time after shoulder surgery

Shreyas Iyer, however has brought laurels to the Delhi based franchise. After being the handed the captaincy in IPL 2018, he lead his team to a spot in playoffs during IPL 2019 and helped them reach the finals for the first time in IPL 2020.

Ahead of their first match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals have posted a message for Shreyas Iyer and fans of the team on their Twitter account.

“You'll always be our #SkipperShreyas. We will miss you dearly, @ShreyasIyer15. For you and for all our fans, the DC family will give it their absolute all in #IPL2021,” DC captioned the video.

In the video, Iyer said, "Dear Delhi, I speak to you today as a fellow fan of the team we love. We fight the same fight we always did. We know it won't be easy but we know we have got what it takes to raise the cup. We have worked hard, harder than before. We have put in the yards harder than before and the best part is we go beyond than just a team,"

"Make no mistake about it. Every ball, every game you have me in your corner your biggest supporter with the loudest cheer. Come on Delhi, roar macha," he added.

In Iyer’s absence young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was appointed captain of the side. Delhi Capitals will lock horns against CSK in their first match of the season in Mumbai on Saturday.
