Former India captain MS Dhoni is going to produce an animated series, titled 'Captain 7'. The makers confirmed the animated series Captain 7's first season will be based on Dhoni.

It is a spy series and the title is in reference to Dhoni's jersey number in cricket. He used to don number 7 for India and continues in the Indian Premier League.

“The concept and story is great. It will bring to life my other passions along with cricket,” Dhoni said.

The first season of India's maiden animated spy universe is slated to launch in 2022. The project is a joint venture between Dhoni Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the production house of Dhoni and Sakshi, and Black White Orange Brands Pvt Ltd. (BWO).

Sakshi said she liked the concept of 'Captain 7' and added that the series is adventurous. "When BWO came to us with the concept of an animation fiction show based on Mahi, we were on board. A whole lot of adventure awaits you with ‘Captain 7’.”, he said.

Bhavik Vora, Founder & CEO of BWO commented on the association, and said, “Creating aspirational Indian brands was one of the core thoughts when we started BWO. While our focus has been licensing, we’ve always explored clutter-breaking new avenues. This is our first foray into original content and what better way than to take MSD’s legacy forward.
