"Filled with immense gratitude," Washington Sundar thanks Anand Mahindra for his SUV gift

Washington Sundar got a brand new Mahindra Thar for his exceptional performance in Australia.

Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar expressed his gratitude to industrialist Anand Mahindra after he gifted a Mahindra Thar SUV to all-rounder following his heroics in the recent Test series against Australia down under. 

India under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane managed to clinch the four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia by 2-1 despite the absence of their regular captain Virat Kohli and losing their first-choice players to injuries.

Only 3 players from the XI that played in first Test at Adelaide took the field in final Test at Gabba with Mohammed Siraj, who debuted for country in Tests in the second match of the series, as the leader of bowling attack.

India pulled off a stunning feat, becoming the first team since Sir Viv RIchards' West Indies side in 1988-89 to defeat Australia at their fortress, Gabba. With a 3 wicket victory over Australia at Gabba, visitors retained the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

Following India’s victory at Gabba industrialist Anand Mahindra promised to gift Thar SUV to six players from Indian team who shined in the final Test.

Young all-rounder Washington Sundar was also among the six players to be gifted the Thar SUV. The others five being Mohammed Siraj, T Natarajan, Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, and Navdeep Saini. 

Taking to his Twitter account Washington Sundar shared a photo with his new car and wrote expressed his gratitude and added that the team will continue to do their best for the country.

“Filled with immense gratitude to Shri @anandmahindra for this wonderful gift & all the encouragement that you provide us youngsters. I’m certain that your support will motivate many to take up a sport and bring more laurels to our country! Many thanks and best regards sir,” Washington Sundar Tweeted. 

Washington Sundar had a dram debut at Gabba. He made a significant contribution in India’s historic win, picking up four wickets with the ball, including three in the first innings. With the bat, he registered scores of 62 and 22.
