IPL 2021: Steve Smith joins Delhi Capitals in Mumbai ahead of IPL 14

Delhi Capitals will kick-start their campaign against Chennai Super Kings on 10th April.

Premier Australian batsman Steve Smith has joined his IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) in Mumbai ahead of the IPL 2021 and will undergo mandatory seven-day quarantine before joining rest of the squad, who already have started their training camp.

Taking to their official Twitter handle, Delhi Capitals posted a picture of Steve Smith from the iconic Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai. The picture shows the Australian posing in the backdrop of the world-famous Gateway of India.

"2 monumental icons in one frame. Welcome to the DC family, @stevesmith49," Delhi Capitals captioned the picture. 

The prolific right-handed batsman was bought by Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021 auction at the price of INR 2.2 crores after he was released by Rajasthan Royals (RR).

At Delhi Capitals, Steve Smith will play under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, who was named captain after regular skipper Shreyas Iyer was ruled out due to a shoulder injury which he picked up during the ODI series against England.

Delhi Capitals will start their IPL 14 campaign against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 10th April.
