Lancashire Cricket on Friday (April 2) wished India batsman and their latest overseas signing Shreyas Iyer a swift recovery from his shoulder injury. He had injured his left shoulder last month during the recently-concluded ODI series against England at home.

Lancashire in March signed Iyer for the 2021 Royal London Cup and hopes the cricketer will recover in time before the start of the 50 over tournament in England.

Taking to Twitter on Friday, Lancashire Cricket wrote: “Fingers crossed. Everyone at Lancashire Cricket is wishing for @ShreyasIyer15's swift recovery. #RedRoseTogether,”

In the Twitter post, Lancashire Cricket Director Paul Allott stated about Iyer’s availability: “He's damaged his left shoulder and he's now going to have an operation in the next week or so. When that has taken place, we'll reassess and have a much clearer idea of where he's going to be fitness-wise. But everybody's got their fingers crossed that he'll be available for us.”

Noteworthy, Lancashire had earlier announced that Iyer will arrive at Emirates Old Trafford on July 15 for the 2021 Royal London Cup and will remain with the Red Rose for the month-long group stages.

Recently, the Indian batsman was ruled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, and Delhi Capitals named Rishabh Pant as their captain for this season.

The Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2021 campaign against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 10.
