WATCH: Chris Gayle thanks PM Narendra Modi for donating COVID-19 vaccines to Jamaica

West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle thanked India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi for helping Jamaica by donating COVID-19 vaccines under the Vaccine Maitri initiative.

Gayle, who has a huge fan following in India, appreciated the gesture in a video posted by the High Commission of India in Jamaica.

"Legendary Jamaican & WI Cricketer @henrygayle thanks PM @narendramodi, the People and Government of #India for the gift of #MadeInIndia Vaccine to #Jamaica", the tweet read.

"Honourable Prime Minister Modi, people of India and Government of India, I want to thank you for the donation of vaccine to Jamaica. We appreciate it, thank you so much. India I will be seeing you soon and thanks once again," Gayle said in the video.

Earlier, West Indies cricket greats like Sir Vivian Richards, Richie Richardson, Jimmy Adams, and Ramnaresh Sarwan thanked India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi for donating COVID-19 vaccines under the Vaccine Maitri initiative. 

India had supplied 1,75,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Antigua and Barbuda and 40,000 of them were donated to the country under the ‘Vaccine Maitri’ initiative.

Gayle will be coming to India soon for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season next month. He is part of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise.
