West Indies and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell is grateful to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian high commission for sending vaccines to the Caribbean nation of Jamaica.
India sent vaccines made in the country to Jamaica on March 8, as a part of the Vaccine Maitri initiative. Jamaica had received 50,000 doses of AstraZeneca while Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and Grenadines and Suriname received 175,000 doses from India.
The official Twitter handle of the Indian high commission in Jamaica posted a video of Andre Russell thanking PM Modi for the vaccines. Earlier this week, Sir Viv Richards and Richie Richardson had also thanked the Indian Prime Minister.
"I just want to say a big, big, big thank you to Prime Minister Modi and the India High Commission. The vaccines are here and we are excited. I would love to see the world going back to normal. Jamaica people really appreciate it and just to show that we are more than close, India and Jamaica are now brothers. I appreciate it and stay safe over there. Peace," Russell said in the video.
