"A gem of a person and a true match-winner", Gautam Gambhir on Yusuf Pathan's retirement

Yusuf Pathan, who was part of T20 World Cup 2007 and World Cup 2011 wins, has quit all formats of cricket.

Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir posted best wishes for Yusuf Pathan on his retirement. Pathan announced retirement from all formats of cricket on Friday (February 26).

Gambhir took to Twitter and wrote that it was his privilege to play with Pathan for India and Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL. He called the 38-year-old a gem of a person in his tweet.

The Baroda cricketer was part of the KKR franchise when Gambhir led them to title wins in 2012 and 2014. “A gem of a person & a true match-winner. It was my privilege to play for both India & KKR with you. Take a bow @iamyusufpathan! Lots of love!,” wrote Gambhir.

Apart from KKR, Pathan also featured in the Rajasthan Royals' IPL winning side in the inaugural season. He made his T20I debut for India in the T20 World Cup 2007 final against Pakistan which they went on to win and lift the trophy. Pathan was also a member of the World Cup 2011 winning squad for India. 

"I thank my family, friends, fans, teams, coaches, and the whole country wholeheartedly for all the support and love," tweeted Yusuf along with a retirement statement.
