The first qualifier of the ongoing BBL 10 between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers saw Sixers winning the match by 9 wickets and qualified for the finals of the tournament.
Scorchers batted first after winning the toss and made 167/7 with Josh Inglis making 69* with 2 sixes and 5 fours. Colin Munro (30) and Ashton Turner (33) were the other scorers for the team. Sixers got a grand start with Josh Philippe (45) and James Vince adding 92 runs for the opening wicket in 9 overs.

Vince continued his assault, as he got support from Daniel Hughes, who made 21*. Vince was on 98* when Sixers needed one run in 18 balls. Andrew Tye was given the 18th over and he ran in and bowled a slow bouncer which went wide and ended the match right there, with Sixers winning by 9 wickets.
James Vince was stranded on 98* (53 balls, 1 six, 14 fours) and look desolate on missing a well-deserved century. The whole situation was reminiscent of the Virender Sehwag- Suraj Randiv incident in an ODI in 2010. Randiv had also bowled a no-ball when Sehwag was on 99 and India needed one run to win the match.
Though Sehwag hit a six and thought that he had scored his century, the no-ball took precedence and he missed his century by a run. Suraj Randiv and Sri Lanka team was criticized for this action and Randiv was suspended for a few matches.

Meanwhile, Vince, who was awarded the Player of the Match, said during the post-match presentation, “Only he will know (if the wide was intentional from Tye). A hundred would have been nice but happy to be there and in the grand final. It's amazing for us to get back to SCG after being on the road for so long."
