England's star all-rounder Ben Stokes has arrived in India for the tour ahead of his teammates and is undergoing the mandatory 6-day quarantine in a hotel in Chennai.

The England cricket team will be arriving on a long tour of India starting from the first week of February. They are slated to play 4 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 5 T20Is matches against the hosts.

Highlighting his first day in quarantine, Ben Stokes shared a series of Instagram stories in which he described what he will be up to for the next five days.

"Day 1 quarantine, I have done a fair bit of quarantine, have to try to make my bed every day, not the best job, but have to do it. So that's basically me for the next five days," Ben Stokes said in one of his Instagram stories.

The rest of the England squad, who are currently in Sri Lanka, are set to fly for Chennai on Wednesday for the first two Tests of the four-match series and will undergo a mandatory 6-days quarantine on arrival.

The last two Tests will be played in Ahmedabad from 24 February. The series, to be played in a bio-bubble, is also crucial in the context of the World Test Championship.

India, who is currently heading the table, will look to maintain their pole position while England, placed fourth at the moment, will hope to move up and inch towards a place in the WTC final.

The England series will be the first international contest to be held in India amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
