WATCH- Rahane receives red carpet welcome with a band on return to his residence in Mumbai

Rahane led India in three Tests of the four-match Test series win over Australia.

Rahane seen here carrying his daughter receives red carpet welcome with flower showersAjinkya Rahane, India’s captain when the team beat Australia 2-1 in the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series, received a grand welcome from his fans as he returned to his residence in Prabhadevi, Mumbai.

Rahane can be seen entering his residence building while a band played and he was given a red-carpet welcome as he walked into his society. This was all shared by fans on social media and the video of the same has gone viral. Rahane is also seen carrying his daughter with him, as he is showered with flowers.

Rahane was given the Indian team’s captaincy for the last three Tests of the series, as Virat Kohli returned home on parental leave after Adelaide Test, which India lost after being bowled out for 36 runs. The Mumbai-born led from the front in Melbourne and scored a fine century to guide India to victory and level the series at 1-1.

Thanks to the grit of Hanuma Vihari, Cheteshwar Pujara, and R Ashwin and the brilliance of Mohammed Siraj, India managed to draw the Sydney Test. And then a second-string team beat Australia in their fortress at the Gabba, Brisbane to win the series 2-1 and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as well.

This was India’s second consecutive Test series win in Australia and Rahane received well-deserved credit for inspiring the team to punch above their weight.
