Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma welcomed to parenting by the Indian cricket fraternity

Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma became parents of a baby girl on Monday (January 11). The girl was born at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and Kohli soon announced her arrival with a statement on his social media accounts.

"We are thrilled to share with you that we've been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers, and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love, Virat." wrote the Indian captain in the statement.

The much adored power couple were flooded with wishes from all over the world immediately, as fans and celebrities congratulated the cricketer and the actress on popular social media platforms, Twitter and Instagram.

Ever since the couple who married in December 2017, announced the pregnancy in August 2020, their fans had been waiting for this day. Kohli opted to miss the last three Tests in Australia to be with his wife for the delivery of their first child and his decision received support as well as some criticism from the fans and experts.
