Normally things that halt a cricket game are usually rain, or snow, or some animal running onto the field, but the third T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan at McLean Park in Napier was stopped midway due to a completely different reason altogether.
Napier is notorious for blindingly bright sunlight stopping play, something that also happened when India toured New Zealand in January of 2019 during an ODI match. This kept the batsmen from seeing the ball properly as the sun shined brightly into their eye line and the match had to be stopped for 30 minutes.
New Zealand was 85 for 3 in 11.4 overs when umpires halted the match and it was learnt that the discussion was over the setting sun which was making it difficult for the batsmen to spot the deliveries.
AUS v IND 2020-21: Wasim Jaffer responds to a fan who mistook him as India batting coach
The players had no option but to wait for the sun to set before resuming the match. New Zealand batsman Glenn Phillips was heard saying, "For me personally, I could not spot the slower ball that he (Haris Rauf) bowled."
This led to social media having a field day, with former India batsman Wasim Jaffer unleashing his inner memer and came up with a meme using a Munnabhai MBBS photo featuring Sanjay Dutt.
This led to fans appreciating and reacting to Jaffer’s meme-making skills.
