Shikhar Dhawan receives birthday wishes from Team India as he turns 35

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan received lots of birthday wishes on social media as he turned 35 on Saturday (December 5). The Delhi cricketer has been an integral part of the Indian team for the better part of the last decade, particularly in white-ball cricket.

Dhawan has scored close to 10,000 runs in international cricket for India, and is known for his ability to stand up when it matters the most. His records at ICC events has been exceptional and he is also the only Indian batsman to score a hundred before lunch on the opening day of a Test match. He had famously scored 187 against Australia on his Test debut, which was the fastest ton ever by a debutant.

The opener won the golden bat twice for scoring the most runs in ICC Champions Trophy 2013 and 2017, and averages more than 45 in ODIs with 17 centuries. He recently became the first batsman to hit back-to-back IPL hundreds while playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020, and finished as the second-highest run-getter in the season.
