Argentina and world football legend Diego Maradona passed away at the age of 60 on Wednesday (November 25) due to a cardiac arrest at his home in Tigre, Buenos Aires, leaving behind a colorful and amazing legacy. Maradona was recently discharged from the hospital after undergoing surgery for removing a blood clot in his brain.
Maradona is famous for leading Argentina to the Football World Cup title in 1986, defeating England in the quarter-finals, scoring two goals, including the infamous ‘hand of God’ goal.
His amazing skills with the feet and fiery nature made him a darling of millions and he was compared to Brazil’s greatest ever, Pele in terms of popularity and talent on the field. In Argentina, he was worshipped as 'El Dios' - The God - partly a play on words on his number 10 shirt, 'El Diez.'
