Diego Maradona led Argentina to 1986 Football World cup titleArgentina and world football legend Diego Maradona passed away at the age of 60 on Wednesday (November 25) due to a cardiac arrest at his home in Tigre, Buenos Aires, leaving behind a colorful and amazing legacy. Maradona was recently discharged from the hospital after undergoing surgery for removing a blood clot in his brain.

Maradona is famous for leading Argentina to the Football World Cup title in 1986, defeating England in the quarter-finals, scoring two goals, including the infamous ‘hand of God’ goal.

His amazing skills with the feet and fiery nature made him a darling of millions and he was compared to Brazil’s greatest ever, Pele in terms of popularity and talent on the field. In Argentina, he was worshipped as 'El Dios' - The God - partly a play on words on his number 10 shirt, 'El Diez.'

Indian cricket fraternity condoles the death of legendary footballer Diego Maradona

The Indian cricket team is a huge fan of the game of football as well, as they play it regularly during practice. Indian captain Virat Kohli is even a co-owner of a team in the Indian Super League football competition.

Hence it was natural for the players of the Indian cricket team to be surprised and saddened by the untimely passing of a football legend like Diego Maradona and they took to Twitter to pay tribute to the great player.
