Gautam Gambhir tests negative after COVID-19 scare at home

Gambhir had self-isolated upon learning of a positive case at his residence.

Gautam Gambhir | GettyFormer India opener Gautam Gambhir on Sunday (November 8) confirmed being tested negative for Coronavirus after a scare borne out of one positive case at his residence. 

Gambhir had self-isolated immediately upon learning that the virus had entered his home and was awaiting his results, which have thankfully proven him free of any health concern.

"Glad to share that my COVID test result is negative. Thank you for all the wishes. I again urge everyone to strictly follow guidelines. Stay safe," he tweeted. 

Gambhir has been involved in analysis teams for the ongoing season of IPL in UAE. He remains a prominent figure in the league's history, having taken Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to two titles in 2012 and 2014 seasons. 

As an India cricketer, Gambhir featured in 58 Tests, 147 ODIs and 37 T20Is before his retirement in late 2018. 

The left-hand batsman was part of the No.1 ranked Indian Test side, apart from being one of the heroes of the 2007 World T20 as well as the 2011 ODI World Cup wins. Post his playing days, Gambhir has also been active in politics, being a Lok Sabha MP from East Delhi.
