WATCH- Batsmen hilariously steal two runs despite wicketkeeper having the ball; game ends in tie

The two runs tied the game and took it into the golden ball.

Batsmen stole a second run despite the keeper holding the ball to tie the match | ScreengrabWhen they say cricket is a very funny game, it is indeed true. We have seen many funny tactics and incidents over the years not only in international cricket but also in lower-tier competitions as well. Actually, that is where all the hidden funny gems of cricket humor are born.

A similar incident was seen in the ongoing European Cricket Series when two batsmen of Pakcelona CC ran two runs in order to tie the game. The bizarre thing was that the wicketkeeper had the ball in his hands and there shouldn’t have been two runs in any way.

Pakcelona needed three runs to win the match off the final delivery in their T10 match against Catalunya Tigers. However, the batsman on strike - Adalat Ali - swung hard at it and missed, but took off for a run.

The wicketkeeper gathered the ball and ran to the stumps, by when the non-striker Azeem Azam had made his ground. As the wicketkeeper stood next to the stumps, probably thinking his team had won the match, the batsman gestured to Adalat to come for the second run.

Azam didn't leave the crease until Ali had also reached and then made a dash for the other end.

By the time, the wicketkeeper understood the batsmen's trick, it was late, but he rolled the ball to the bowler, who was standing mid-pitch. The bowler tried to aim for the stumps but missed his throw at the non-striker's end and Pakcelona managed to take the game to the "Golden Ball".

The “Golden Ball” rule is being used in the European Cricket Series and states that if the game ends in a tie, the chasing team will get one delivery where they have to score two runs or more to win the game. Catalunya Tigers won the game as Pakcelona could only take a single off the "Golden Ball” in the end.
