Legendary India all-rounder Kapil Dev has reportedly suffered a heart attack and undergone angioplasty – a procedure to restore blood flow through the artery.
Taking to Twitter, a Delhi-based journalist on Friday (October 23) wrote: “Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev @therealkapildev suffers heart attack, undergoes angioplasty at a hospital in Delhi. Wishing him a speedy recovery."
Later, senior sports journalist Vikrant Gupta also tweeted about Kapil’s health, confirming that the 1983 World Cup-winning skipper is fine now.
“Hearing about Kapil Paaji’s health. Can confirm he’s okay now. Best wishes @therealkapildev,” he wrote.
Kapil Dev is widely deemed as one of the greatest all-rounders of all-time. He was an outstanding fielder, a brilliant bowler and a dangerous batsman, who could tear apart any attack on his day.
Dev played 131 Tests and 225 ODIs in his illustrious career. While he scored 5248 runs and claimed 434 wickets in the longest format, he made 3783 runs and picked up 253 scalps in ODIs.
Kapil retired from the cricket in 1994 and later served Team India as a coach.
