Former India spinner Pragyan Ojha on Wednesday (August 12) took a media outlet to task for making a ‘misleading headline’ while publishing his news.

The media outlet had published an article with a title stating: “Gave Muralitharan my wicket on purpose: How Pragyan Ojha was trolled after becoming 800th Test victim.”
In the article, it was also mentioned that during a conversation “Ravichandran Ashwin jokingly said Ojha had told his teammates in the dressing room that he purposely gave his wicket away to Muralitharan when the Sri Lanka great was on 799 wickets during the Galle Test in July 2010.”
However, Ojha rubbished the news, saying it was a little banter between co-cricketers and added that the headline was taken out of the context.
“A little banter between co-cricketers is harmless, but taking it out of context and making a misleading headline out of it is not appreciated!” Ojha, who retired from cricket earlier this year, wrote on Twitter.
Veteran India off-spinner Ashwin also echoed Ojha’s sentiments, saying it’s unfair to malign a cricketer who has played with his heart and soul.
“I agree @pragyanojha !! I mentioned about it in jest on the show and it’s been taken way out of context. It’s unfair to malign a cricketer who has played with his heart and soul in such a manner. Anything in the name of headlines for eyeballs!! Sorry state of affair,” Ashwin tweeted.
Pragyan Ojha represented the country in 24 Tests, 18 ODIs and 6 T20Is from 2008 to 2013. While the left-arm spinner claimed 113 wickets in the longest format, he picked 21 and 10 scalps in ODIs and T20Is respectively.
