India skipper Virat Kohli had shown astounding chasing skills in the early phase of his career. He kept getting more trustworthy and gave India a sense of comfort while chasing over the years.

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir recalled Kohli's masterclass against Pakistan in the 2012 Asia Cup match. India was chasing 330 at Dhaka and they lost Gambhir in the very first over.

Virat walked in at number 3 and his next two partnerships with Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma turned the game in India's favor. He ended up with 183 off 148 deliveries before getting dismissed in 48th over.

“Virat Kohli has played many unbelievable innings across the three formats, but this (183) is one of his greatest innings from all points of view.

“First of all we were chasing 330, then India was 0/1, and then scoring 183 out of the 330 runs, that too against Pakistan, and that time, he was not that experienced too,” said Gambhir on “Best of Asia Cup watch along” show on Star Sports.

Kohli had made batting look easy against Pakistan bowling line-up which had Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Gul, Aizaz Cheema, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, and Wahab Riaz. “According to me, I think probably this (183) is one of Virat Kohli’s greatest innings, honestly,” Gambhir added.
