Indian cricket continues to be on hiatus in wake of the COVID-19 outbreak and there is no clarity about the upcoming assignments.
However, India’s top cricketers have started outdoor training at facilities in their hometowns after the lockdown guidelines were relaxed by the government.
Suresh Raina and Rishabh Pant have been training at the former's training facility in Ghaziabad for over a week.
On Monday (July 20), the duo shared a glimpse of their training sessions in an Instagram live session with sports presenter Rupha Ramani for Chennai Super Kings.
During the interaction, Raina was sporting a CSK jersey and said the legendary MS Dhoni would enjoy practicing with them.
With Hindon Airport close by, the southpaw said, “I live very close by, this is my ground. We do have the Hindon Airport here and we see glimpse of MS Dhoni helicopter, the flag is there. Hopefully he’ll see it and whenever he comes here, he is definitely going to enjoy it.”
“I think in this Covid-19 situation, we all need to be positive. Things have been difficult and challenging but as sportstars and entertainers, we need to come out as great personalities and at the same time help everyone around with the situation. So I just want to say be positive, be who you are and look after your mind (mental health), that’s very important,” he added.
Pant is also eager to get back on the field after a lengthy Coronavirus-induced break.
“It’s good to start practicing right now, I am trying to improve each and everyday. Making use of my time now which has been wasted for five-six months now. Let’s hope we start cricket now so we can do well for the country,” he said.
The young wicketkeeper also shed light on the kind of discussions he has with his Dhoni.
"With Mahi bhai, the interactions were always little but very intense. We keep it that way. The lengthy discussions don't make me feel right. We discuss small, small things. I grab it and move on to other things," Pant said.
