Babar Azam enjoys a massive fan following all across the cricketing world, especially in his home country Pakistan.
The star batsman is currently in England for the upcoming T20I and Test series but he still took some time off from his busy schedule to interact with his eight-year-old fan via a video conference call.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) organised the call between Babar and his ardent fan Samiya Afsar, who resides in Lahore.
During his interaction with the young fan, Pakistan’s white-ball skipper hailed Samiya’s strokeplay and offered some tips on how to become a better batter.
After interacting with his young fan, Azam said: "Fans are the most integral part of the game and they keep us motivated through thick and thin. It gives us extra motivation to produce match-winning performances when we know that such beautiful people are behind us and praying for our success."
In an official statement released by the PCB, Samiya said she wants to be like Babar and also expressed her desire to represent the Pakistan women’s team.
"I am Babar Azam's biggest fan and I want to be like him. Like a superhero, he looks after our country and takes our team out of troubles. One day, I will also do for our women's team what he does for the men's," she said.
Earlier this year, Samiya had gained popularity after a video of her batting practice went viral on social media.
Even Sri Lankan batting legend Kumar Sangakkara was impressed with Samiya's technique and he tweeted, saying: "Can't get over how good this little player is. Much better technique than mine already. So encouraging to see such talent in cricket."
