Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith completed 10 years in Test cricket on Monday (July 13). He had made his red-ball debut against Pakistan at Lord’s back in 2010.
Recalling that special day, Smith took to Instagram and shared a couple of pictures from his debut Test match.
In the first photo, Smith can be seen receiving the prestigious baggy green cap from the legendary Ricky Ponting, who was the captain of the Australian team at that time.
“It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since my Test debut. It’s been an amazing ride so far. Maybe another 10 years in me?...” he wrote in the caption.
In his debut Test, Smith scored 1 and 12 across the two innings and also claimed three wickets as Australia won the game by 150 runs.
While Smith had started his journey as a leg-spinning all-rounder, he has now established himself as the leading Test batsman in the world.
In fact, the 31-year-old holds the No. 1 position in the ICC Test rankings for batsmen. He has played 73 Tests so far, scoring 7227 runs at a phenomenal average of 62.84, including 26 tons and 29 half-centuries.
