Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez's COVID-19 test results have left the cricket fraternity mystified.

Hafeez was among the 10 Pakistani players who tested positive for the novel Coronavirus when the PCB conducted the first round of tests earlier this week.

However, he got himself tested at a private facility the very next day and his result came out negative.

As if it was not enough, Hafeez's COVID-19 test on Friday (June 26) resulted positive again as per the PCB facilitated re-test.

Reacting on this bizarre turn of events, former Indian opener-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra tweeted, "Arey yaar....confusion is synonymous with Pakistan cricket but this is taking it to an all-new level. Positive, negative, positive...all in 72 hours."

Notably, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already expressed disappointment over Hafeez’s decision to conduct private test. The organisation accused the senior cricketer of violating protocols ahead of the team's highly-anticipated tour of England.

"I spoke to Hafeez today and I made it clear to him our disappointment at the way he had handled this entire affair. As an individual, he has a right to take a private test but he should have spoken to us first because he created a problem for us," PCB CEO Wasim Khan had said.

"This is not the first time that Hafeez has breached our rules in the media. He doesn't have a central contract but once he was selected for the Pakistan team he has to abide by the rules and regulations for all players especially pertaining to the use of social media. We are still looking at the matter because it has caused us a lot of problems," he added.

It will be interesting to see how the board will tackle this issue in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is due to leave for England on Sunday (June 28) for a Test and T20I series in August.
