Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput, well known for his work on TV in hit soap opera “Pavitra Rishta” and for playing MS Dhoni in the Indian cricketer’s biopic, is no more. Rajput, 34, committed suicide as per reports of multiple news outlets at his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020.
The door to his house was broken in by friends and his domestic help found him hanging and alerted the police. Details about his demise are awaited, but his passing has left everyone from Bollywood to cricket fraternity in India, shocked and in disbelief.
He hailed from Patna, Bihar, and was born on January 21, 1986. His movie debut came in 2013’s Kai Po Che, earning him the Best Male Debut Award at that year’s Filmfare awards. He went on to star in hits like Shuddh Desi Romance, Raabta, Chhichhore, and PK.
However, his most memorable performance came in the form of MS Dhoni in the former India captain’s biopic- M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, which was released in 2016. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster and got him his first nomination in the Best Actor category in almost all award shows that year.
Unfortunately, he was said to be under stress and depression for the last few months. Just a few days ago, the actor had mourned the death of his former manager Disha Salian. His last appearance on screen came in movie Drive opposite Jacqueline Fernandes.
The cricket fraternity, which had praised his portrayal in MS Dhoni’s biopic, was left shocked at Sushant’s untimely demise and took to Twitter in order to pay respects and express grief.
