Fans dig out Ishant Sharma's old Instagram post calling Daren Sammy as “Kaluu”

Sammy recently claimed that he and Thisara Perera faced racist barb while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Ishant Sharma could be in trouble because of his old post | InstagramFormer West Indies skipper Daren Sammy on Saturday (June 6) made shocking revelations about racism in cricket.

Sammy alleged that he and Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera faced racist jibe while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In his Instagram story, Sammy, who represented SRH in 2013 and 2014, said he and Perera were called "kalu" during their stints with the franchise.

Although he did not specify who directed this racial slur at him, cricket fans on Tuesday (June 9) dug out an old Instagram post of Ishant Sharma in which the India pacer was clearly calling Sammy by that name.

In that post from 14th May 2014, Ishant can be seen posing for a selfie with his former SRH teammates Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sammy, Dale Steyn and he captioned the picture as: “Me, bhuvi, kaluu and gun sunrisers”.

Daren Sammy has opened up about the racism in cricket at a time when the world is mourning the killing of George Floyd – a 46-year-old African-American, who died on May 25 in Minneapolis after Derek Chauvin, a white policeman, knelt on his neck for several minutes.

It would be interesting to see how the cricketing fraternity will now react to Ishant Sharma’s old post and how the Indian cricketer will defend himself.
