In his series of tweets paying tribute to his ex-teammates, former India batsman VVS Laxman on Saturday (June 6) heaped effusive praise over off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. 

Laxman especially pointed out how Harbhajan could channelise his raw aggression in the right way towards the team cause.

"Another person could easily have buckled under the string of personal and professional setbacks that marked the early part of his career. Channelising potential frustration into unbridled aggression, Harbhajan Singh held his own at the highest level for a decade and a half," tweeted Laxman. 

In his reply, Harbhajan thanked Laxman and other senior figures for their support. 

"Thank you @VVSLaxman281 for the everything.. journey wouldn’t hv been possible without u guys around."

Harbhajan delivered inarguably his best spells in Laxman's breakthrough series in 2001 against the mighty Australian side on its final frontier. 

The turbanator, then aged only 20, picked up 32 wickets in the three-Test series at an average of just 17.03, including 4 five-wicket hauls, as India bounced back from an innings defeat in Mumbai to clinch memorable wins in Kolkata, Chennai and won the series 2-1. 

Part of India's successful 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 50-over World Cup campaigns, Harbhajan has played 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20Is for the country, taking over 700 wickets at the highest level.
