Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen is angered by the death of a pregnant elephant in Kerala. Pietersen, who is an animal activist and has also made a documentary with National Geographic, shared an Instagram post to condemn the recent act.

An elephant died on May 27 while standing in the middle of a river in the southern state of Kerala, four days after she was found injured, according to Ashique Ali, a local forest officer. The postmortem report says that there was an explosion in the mouth.

"DISGUSTED with the images I've been sent from India overnight over the senseless brutality of this mummy elephant. Why would someone do this?!?! Just why?!?", Pietersen posted on Instagram with photos of the dastardly incident.

As per reports the elephant ate a pineapple that was stuffed with firecrackers. The locals kept the fruit to keep the wild boars away as they usually stray into the agricultural land, but the elephant happened to become the victim instead.

The crackers burst inside the elephant's mouth and injured the upper and lower jaw.
