India’s vice-captain in Test cricket, Ajinkya Rahane has condemned the brutal and heartbreaking incident of killing a pregnant elephant in Kerala, saying he is “really ashamed of this cruel act.”
The murder of a pregnant wild elephant – who died eating a pineapple containing firecrackers near the Silent Valley National Park in Palakkad village, shamed humanity, causing a lot of outrage over the brutal incident of animal abuse happened on social media.
Following the inhuman and heinous incident, netizens and several celebrities across the fields including Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli condemned the unspeakably traumatic and painful murder of a pregnant elephant, as well as, demanded actions against the cruelty.
Sharing artworks in tribute to the pregnant elephant, they have also asked the people to show some humanity and treat the innocent creatures of nature with love.
Meanwhile, Rahane, mourning the death of the pregnant elephant, said the humans need to treat the innocent creatures 'a lot better' while expressing his shock over the killing of the elephant.

Taking to Twitter, the cricketer wrote: “We need to be a lot better in the way we treat these innocent creatures. Really ashamed of this cruel act and hope this makes everyone realize the importance of being kind towards animals and act like a human. #KeralaElephantMurder.”
