In a career spanning 24 years, Tendulkar played 200 Tests and 463 ODIs for India, scoring the world record number of runs (15921 in Tests and 18426 in ODIs), hundreds (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs) and half-centuries (66 in Tests and 96 in ODIs).
Despite achieving all this, he remained a down to earth person over the years and still continues to be.
On Sunday (May 31), former India batsman VVS Laxman acknowledged Sachin’s remarkable quality of staying grounded despite the huge amount of fan-following and adulation.
Taking to Twitter, Laxman wrote: "His trail-blazing career is the stuff legends are made of, but even more endearing is his commitment, passion & respect for the game that made him what he is. Staying grounded despite the adulation he received is a remarkable quality, one of the hallmarks of his greatness @sachin_rt."
Laxman’s kind words for Sachin Tendulkar came just a day after he announced that he will pay tributes to his teammates who inspired him through their deeds.
“I have been very fortunate throughout my career to have played alongside men who inspired through their deeds. There are lessons to be learnt, like I did, from the way they carried themselves. Over the next few days, I’ll be paying tribute to teammates who influenced me immensely,” he tweeted on Saturday (May 30).
