"I’ve missed this place! Slowly easing through the gears but enjoying being back," he captioned the post.

For Anderson, time away from the game has been longer than his teammates, as he found himself sidelined midway through the Test series in South Africa earlier this year with a rib injury and hasn't played at the highest level since January.

The 37-year-old became the first and so far the only pacer in the history of Test cricket to play 150 matches while facing the Proteas.

Anderson has taken 584 wickets, the highest for England, at an average of 26.83 in 151 games.

Teammates Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes, and Ben Stokes resumed training last week.

The ECB is planning for cricket's bio-secure return in July and hopefully have West Indies, Pakistan, Australia and Ireland arrive for their scheduled fixtures in a curtailed summer because of the ongoing pandemic.

Cancellation of those fixtures will result in heavy losses, the board foresees.

Already England's leading international cricketers have volunteered 20 per cent pay cut from their salaries till June to help the board survive this phase.
