Tendulkar, Dhawan send birthday wishes to Brian Lara as he turns 51

Brian Lara | GettyCaribbean batting giant Brian Lara is celebrating his 51st birthday today (May 2). Fondly known as the Prince of Trinidad, Lara is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen to have played the game of cricket.

Lara has been an inspiration to many batsmen in the current generation. He represented West Indies in 131 Tests, scoring 11,953 runs at an average of 52.88 with 34 centuries and 48 fifties and holds the world of highest individual Test score (400 not out), First-Class score (501 not out).

The southpaw also proved his mettle in white-ball cricket, amassing 10,405 ODI runs from 299 games at an average and strike-rate of 40.48 and 79.51 respectively.

As the revered cricketer entered in the 52nd season of his life, wishes poured in for him from the cricketing fraternity. Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar also extended his birthday greetings to Lara.

Taking to Twitter, Tendulkar wrote: "Wishing my fellow Taurean a very happy birthday. Was great fun catching up with you recently. Have a great one, Prince! Look forward to seeing you soon. Take care."

Sachin and Lara were last seen together in March this year during the Road Safety World Series, which was suspended midway due to COVID-19 outbreak.

India opener Shikhar Dhawan too greeted the West Indies icon through a heartfelt post.

"Happy birthday to the legend, the Prince of Trinidad & Tobago and a great human being @BrianLara Hope you have a beautiful year ahead and soon we'll do our dance lessons," Dhawan tweeted.
