India's vice-captain Rohit Sharma talked about the unseen competition between Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. The outer world has no idea these two Indian pacers compete with each other. 

Appearing in the talk show 'Double Trouble' with Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana, Rohit said Shami and Bumrah engage in a heavy competition during net sessions.

The India opener also added that Shami is the toughest to face in the nets and he likes to bounce the batsmen out after seeing a green track. It gives him joy.

“The pitches we have for net sessions are almost always green with moisture. And whenever Shami sees a green pitch, he eats extra biryani! Bumrah is also difficult but he has been around only for two-three years,” Rohit said.

“Shami, I have been playing since 2013. But yeah, right now there must be a competition going on between Bumrah and Shami, on who beats the bat most, who can hit the most on the helmets,” he added.

Rohit, who leads Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL, let fans know about the time when he used to practice playing wide-yorkers. It was during the 2013-14 Indian Premier League season. His teammate Lasith Malinga used to help him out.

“That is my favorite shot (over the point), I used to bat in the lower-order. I requested Malinga (Lasith) to bowl me five-six yorkers even if it is on my foot. I used to take the ball on the full and try to middle it over the point boundary. From then, it has helped me play yorkers better,” recalled the 33-year-old.
