Warne hosted an Instagram Live to reveal the team and selected only those players with whom he played during his illustrious career.

Warne, who claimed 293 wickets from 194 ODIs and played a key role in Australia’s 1999 World Cup triumph, opted to go with Mark Waugh and Adam Gilchrist as his two openers. For the crucial No. 3 position, he preferred Australia’s leading ODI scorer Ricky Ponting.

The Spin King picked Dean Jones, Michael Clarke, Michael Bevan and Andrew Symonds for the middle-order slots alongside Border.

“It was either between Mark Waugh or Matthew Hayden, but I had to go for Mark. Dean Jones was way ahead of his time, like running between the wickets,” Warne said.

“Michael Bevan was one of the all-time greatest match finishers, Symonds was a destructive player, he could bowl as well,” he added.

While picking the bowlers, Warne didn’t opt for any specialist spinner. He named Brett Lee, Craig McDermott and Glenn McGrath as the fast bowling options in his all-time Australian ODI XI.
