Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to show solidarity with the fight against COVID-19, people across the country lit lamps, candles, diya, torch and mobile flashlights for nine minutes after 9 PM on April 5.
But some folks went a bit overboard and burst crackers which caused pollution and massive fires in some areas.
Baffled by the antics of those people, Pathan tweeted: “It was so good until ppl started bursting crackers.”
While Irfan wanted to convey that bursting crackers will only worsen the situation amid this deadly pandemic, some Twitter trolls took it in a wrong way and started hurling abuses, distasteful remarks in the comment section.
Infuriated by the over-reaction, Pathan wrote: “We need fire trucks can u help?” and tagged the handle of Twitter India in his new post.
India is currently under a nationwide 21-day lockdown to contain the spread of Coronavirus. The lockdown will end on April 14.
As of April 6, the country has recorded more than 4000 cases and 109 deaths due to COVID-19, which has claimed over 69,000 lives while infecting close to 1,282,000 globally.
