Since starting in China late last year, the Coronavirus pandemic has infected over 381,000 people and killed more than 16,000 across the world, bringing several countries to a virtual standstill.
With most nations going into lockdown to contain the spread of the virus, the animals and birds are struggling for their daily food.
Therefore, India opener Shikhar Dhawan on Tuesday (March 24) urged people to put out food and water bowls outside their homes.

Dhawan shared a video message on Instagram and captioned it as: “People for Animals- #CompassionInTimesOfCorona. Under the stressful circumstances of lockdown a lot of animals/birds who were dependent on shops/vendors/visitors for their daily food are now going to go hungry and starve. For this period of lockdown it is my humble request to you to put out food/water bowls outside your homes for animals/birds. From the safety of our homes we can still save some souls. Let’s save some lives and add to our good karma. Let no one go hungry, let no one hurt.”
India too has suffered badly due to the COVID-19 outbreak. As of March 24, the country has recorded more than 500 positive cases and 10 deaths.
In order to limit the spread of virus in India, the government has closed down all integrated check posts (ICPs) at all airports, seaports, land ports, rail ports, and river ports.
