Sri Lankan wrist-spinner Kevin Koththigoda's bowling action instantly caught eyeballs of the viewers as well as on social media on Saturday (November 16). The spinner bowled to likes of Shane Watson and Antich Devcich during the match between Bangla Tigers and Deccan Gladiators.
Koththigoda's action reminded people of South Africa's Paul Adams from the 90's who had a similar 'frog in a blender' bowling action but he bowled with the left hand. The spinner did nothing of note conceding 22 runs in his two overs but managed to trouble on couple of occasions, before he hit the spinner for two sixes.
Gladiators chased down the target of 109 with one ball left, as Watson led from the front scoring 41 off 25 balls.
“He has a very unusual action. It’s like that of Paul Adams. The action wasn’t coached or anything, it came naturally to him. Initially, he was struggling with the length as he couldn’t see the pitch, but he has improved tremendously,” his coach Dhammika Sudarshana told Cricbuzz in 2017.
