Cricket fraternity wishes ace spinner Anil Kumble on his 49th birthday  

Anil Kumble is the only Indian bowler to take 10 wickets in an innings in a Test match.

Anil Kumble picked 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan in 1999 Delhi TestFormer India captain and coach Anil Kumble is celebrating his 49th birthday today, October 17. He was born in 1970 in Bangalore, Karnataka and made his India debut in 1990 against England.

Kumble went on to become the greatest spinner India has ever produced with 619 wickets in 132 Tests and 337 wickets in 271 ODIs, both records for India. Kumble was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honor in 2005. He is also only the second bowler to pick all ten wickets in an innings in a Test after Jim Laker. He achieved the feat against Pakistan in Delhi 1999.

He retired from the game in 2008 after captaining India for two years and became the head coach in 2016, for a year, after which he resigned due to differences with captain Virat Kohli. He has also been a mentor of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians in IPL and is now the Director of Cricket Operations of Kings XI Punjab.

Today, as he celebrates turning 49 years old, Kumble received wishes from the Indian cricket fraternity on Twitter.
