Sri Lanka inflicted a 3-0 whitewash over Pakistan in the T20I series as they beat the hosts by 13 runs in the final game at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Wednesday (October 9).
Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka posted 147/7 in 20 overs on the back of Oshada Fernando’s 78 not out off 48 balls, including 8 fours and 3 sixes.
Defending the total, Kasun Rajitha got the visitors off to a brilliant start as he dismissed Fakhar Zaman for a golden duck. Afterwards, Babar Azam and Haris Sohail steadied the ship by adding 76 runs for the second wicket. But Wanindu Hasaranga (3/21) and Lahiru Kumara (2/24) ran through the middle order to reduce Pakistan to 111/6.
While Hasaranga removed Haris Sohail (52), Sarfaraz Ahmed (17) and Asif Ali (1), Kumara got rid of Babar Azam (27) and Imad Wasim (3).
Needing 28 in the final over, Lahiru Madushanka conceded only 14 runs as Sri Lanka eventually restricted the home team to 134/6 in 20 overs.
After the impressive performance, cricketing fraternity took to Twitter and hailed the inexperienced Sri Lankan side for dominating the No. 1 T20I team in their den.
