West Indies speedster Sheldon Cotterell on Sunday (July 28) shared an old clip of MS Dhoni in Army uniform, with a heart-warming message of admiration for the legendary India cricketer.
The video is from 2018 when Dhoni, who holds the rank of Honorary Lieutenant Colonel, had received country's third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan, from President Ram Nath Kovind.
“This man is an inspiration on the cricket field. But he is also a patriot and a man that gives to his country beyond duty. I have been at home in Jamaica with my boys these past weeks and had time to reflect,” Cotterell wrote along with the video.
“I shared this video with friends and family because they know how I feel about honour but the moment between wife and husband truly shows an inspirational kind of love for country and partner. Please enjoy as I did,” he added.
For now, Dhoni has taken a two-month sabbatical from the game to serve his paramilitary regiment and thus he wasn’t considered for selection for the West Indies tour.
It is worth mentioning here that Sheldon Cotterell's salute celebration has become his identity. Whenever he takes a wicket, the Caribbean pacer celebrates it with a salute, certainly very different from others. His trademark salute celebration is a tribute to his country’s armed forces. He had trained with the Jamaican Army for six months and had picked up this move at that time.
