Axed India cricketer Ambati Rayudu was disheartened after being snubbed from India's World Cup 2019 squad. Seen as India's potential number 4 batsman, Rayudu was replaced by Vijay Shankar.
After picking Shankar over him, chief selector MSK Prasad said the three-dimensional contribution from the all-rounder kept him over his competitors in the list. "We did give a few more chances to Rayudu but Vijay Shankar gives three dimensions," chief selector MSK Prasad said
"Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup," Rayudu wrote on his Twitter handle.
Shankar has responded to Ambati's tweet in a chat show named 'Breakfast with Champions' hosted by Gaurav Kapur. Fans figured the tweet out and knew it was for Shankar, but the all-rounder still defended Rayudu.
“I know for the fact that how a cricketer would feel if they are not being picked. I can understand from a player’s point of view. And I know for the fact that he didn’t mean it to me. It was just that he put that tweet for the sake of it. I can understand the situation in which he was. It is fine for any cricketer,” he said.
