Nepal cricketer Bhim Sharki on Tuesday (February 12) pulled off a stunning catch during a clash in the ongoing Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL).

Widely known as the Jonty Rhodes of Nepal cricket, Sharki dived forward at full length to complete the grab. Apart from his effort, what made the catch special was that Sharki had to land in the sand while diving.

The official Twitter account of DPL posted a clip of the fabulous catch on Twitter with a caption reading: “Bhim Sharki showed in the field why he is called the @JontyRhodes8 of Nepal! He pulled off this diving spectacular effort that would make Ruslan DPL 3 Goodwill Ambassador Jonty proud! An early contender for the Catch of the Tournament! Good luck beating this effort!”

As if the praise from Twitterati wasn’t enough, Bhim Sharki’s brilliant catch also received an ultimate accolade from Jonty Rhodes, who is widely regarded as the greatest fielder to have played the game.

Taking to Twitter, Jonty wrote: “I met Bhim a couple of months ago in Kathmandu and was really impressed with his down2eaerh attitude. Never got to see him in the field then, but wow, thanks hat an amazing effort today in the field #nepalcricket #ruslandpl3”.

“Not just the catch: diving forward; full length; at speed; but he also had to contend with landing in the sand #dpl3 #nepalcricket #catcheswinmatches,” he further added.
