Former England cricketer Geoffrey Boycott had undergone an open heart bypass surgery earlier this year in Leeds. He has recovered from the operation and is now demanding employment to show how fit he is. In his own words, Boycott is a fit as a butcher's dog.
When he tweeted an update on his health, he also asked for employment as mentioned earlier. Indian fans had a job vacancy for him. They asked the former England batsman to open for India.
Indian opening batsmen are not doing well overseas and hence, the fans asked him to fill the vacant place. Boycott responded to one of them. The English cricket legend said if he was India's opener, the Indian great Sachin Tendulkar had to wait for his batting.
"Just had my 6-month post heart op checkup and I’m pleased to say I’m fit as a butchers dog, have a clean bill of health and I’m open to employment!," wrote Boycott.
A fan commented, "Would you mind opening the batting for India." On which, the 78-year-old responded, "Love to!!! @sachin_rt might have to wait a long while to get a bat!"
Boycott played 108 Tests for England from 1964-1982, scoring 8,114 runs at 47.72. Boycott scored 22 centuries and 42 half-centuries.
