The Delhi based franchise of Indian Premier League (IPL) came up with a new name for upcoming seasons. They have changed their name to Delhi Capitals from Delhi Daredevils. The change of name was on the cards after the co-owner of the franchise and JSW Sports' Director, Parth Jindal showed an interest in revamping the franchise.
In a chat with Indian Express, he said, "We wanted this name to mean something to each and everyone from Delhi. Our supporting staff has a knack of picking raw talent and molding them. Sandeep Lamichhane is a fine example of that. This season we have Kaif too who has been a natural talent scout too in this country. Shikhar Dhawan is a proven performer in IPL and he adds the perfect experience to the motivated young core of ours."
After a change of the name, the Twitteratis found out there is another professional sports team which shares the same name. It was is a basketball team of United Basketball Alliance (UBA) Pro Basketball League.
Delhi Capitals of IPL changed their Twitter handle as well; which saw the basketball team change its handle as well.
The professional basketball team had to change their Twitter handle to '@De_15439248109' which was earlier '@DelhiCapitals'.
That feeling when you spend large amounts of time and money on a big rebrand and the Twitter handle is already taken by a basketball team with 108 followers pic.twitter.com/jPiMikG5yd
