Birthday wishes pour in for Mohammad Kaif as he turns 38

Having played 13 Tests and 125 ODIs for the country, Kaif announced his retirement earlier this year.

Born in the year 1980 former India middle-order batsman and one of country's finest fielders to have played the game, Mohammad Kaif celebrates his 38th birthday on Saturday, December 1.

Well known for his excellent athleticism in the field, Kaif played 13 Tests and 125 ODIs for India.

The right-hander scored over 2,000 runs in ODI cricket and will always be remembered for his match-winning knock of 87 at the Lord’s during that ever memorable Natwest Trophy final in 2002.

Domestically, Kaif played and captained Uttar Pradesh before featuring for Andhra Pradesh, Railways and Chattisgarh as a professional and amassed 7,581 runs across 129 first-class games.

It his prowess in the first-class game, that gave his 13 Test caps for India. In which, he scored 624 runs at an average of 32.84, including one hundred and three half-centuries.

He announced his retirement from all forms of the game earlier this year.

Kaif, who is generally heard from the commentary box these days, has also been quite busy with the media work for the great sport and was recently signed by Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Daredevils as an assistant coach for next year's edition of the marquee competition.
