
The 2016 edition of Asia Cup was converted into T20 format in order to give the participating teams some match practice for the World T20 2016, which followed the Asia cup tournament. The Asia Cup 2016 featured India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and United Arab Emirates playing the T20 format.
India went undefeated in the finals, defeating every team they faced in the league matches. They defeated Bangladesh by 45 runs in their first match. They demolished Pakistan, who were bowled out for 83 runs and won the match with 27 balls remaining, despite losing 3 early wickets. Sri Lanka was dealt with same brutality and India was set to face Bangladesh in the finals.
Bangladesh batted first and scored 120/5. India easily chased the target thanks to 60 runs from Shikhar Dhawan, 41* runs from Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni who made 20* from just 6 balls, hitting a match ending and tournament winning six off Al-Amin Hossain.
MS Dhoni ended the tournament with a staggering strike rate of 280, scoring 42 runs in 15 balls that he faced in the tournament.
