Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli turned 46 on Thursday. He received birthday wishes from his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar. The great Indian batsman had shared a historic partnership with Kambli playing for his school in his early days.

Tendulkar tweeted on the micro-blogging side and wished the cricketer. “Tum jiyo hazaaron saal aur saal ke din ho hazaar. Wishing you a very happy birthday, @vinodkambli2016,” he wrote.

Kambli showed his gratitude for all the wishes poured in by his fans and followers. He also shared a video where he was seen celebrating his birthday with friends; which included Sachin.

Tendulkar celebrated Kambli’s birthday by cutting a cake with the Mumbai cricketer.

Things were not good between the childhood friends for a long time. However, they settled it out like grown-ups and now share a good equation.

Earlier in an interview, Kambli had confirmed that all is well between them. "Yes, everything is fine between us and I'm happy with it. We hugged each other. We want to tell people that we're back."

"We are very close... we were very close. He could have done a little more, but he didn't," Kambli had said in July 2009, in reply to a query on his friendship with Tendulkar.

Hurt by Kambli's comments, Tendulkar didn't invite his former school mate to his farewell Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in 2013, and didn't even mention his name in his emotional farewell speech.

Kambli, however, stressed, that any bitterness during these past few years is now "forgotten." It's not clear that who broke the ice first. "It was mutual, and I'm very glad about it," said the 46-year-old.
