A "like" from Virat Kohli’s verified Instagram profile on a post by South African model LizLaz has triggered a massive social media storm.
After fans noticed the 'like', screenshots began circulating across the internet, leading to a wave of "algorithm" memes.
The "algorithm" reference stems from a May 2025 incident where Kohli mistakenly liked a photo of Indian influencer Avneet Kaur.
At that time, the star batter issued a formal clarification on his Instagram Stories, stating: "I'd like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding".
Since then, the term has become a recurring inside joke used by fans whenever a player’s social media activity appears accidental.
After Kohli’s recent activity went viral, the "algorithm" jokes resurfaced again.
This digital buzz coincides with Virat Kohli's active participation in the IPL 2026 for RCB. He currently holds the Orange Cup for leading the run- scoring chart 228 runs from five matches. The batting stalwart has scored his runs at an average of 57 and a strike rate of 158.33, including two half-centuries.
